This is the idea and intent behind any well thought out business model. To attract customers, convert them to buying customers and then capture and maintain their loyalty.

This process is the heart of every successful internet business.

Generate Traffic

The foundation upon which any business is built is the customers who make purchases. The need to attract them to your site and the ability to do so is key to your online success.

There are many varying ways in which to generate traffic, some free, some cost money, and some methods work quickly, while others take time. The point here is a consistent flow of customers is the foundation to any successful internet business.

Are You on Your Way to Online Success?

Yes, I have been busy as a bee all week long, in fact every week for months now. Sometimes I work through the night. I keep myself awake with 'No Fear' and other energy drinks.

To become successful online, you have to really work your way up. There is no such thing, as getting rich over night.

But it is fun and rewarding. Setting up blogs and reviewing products is really a fun thing to do. I also wrote my articles in between. I'm still writing at least 3 articles a day, trying to get up to at least 4-5 articles per day. I do my marketing mainly with writing articles.

There is no such thing as an easy and fast way to success in the Internet marketing or ‘making money online’ business. The competition is not sleeping!

There are a lot of good ebooks and programs out there, but none of them are telling you all of what you need to know, in order to become successful online. You still have to review them and work your way through all the information they provide. Because the truth is, nobody of the 'biggis' will give you all of it in one product.

You have to find all the pieces and put them together yourself. Each of the programs and ebooks, or reports will have something valuable in them. You got to find the missing pieces to your own success, yourself.

This is not said to discourage you. No, not at all! I just want you to be careful in what you are buying. You need to know exactly what you need next, and then search for it.

And don't be disappointed, if you don't get any money coming in after a couple of month. You can, there is no doubt about it. But in general, it will take a little longer to get some real money coming in every single month.

You have to be patient. Be consistent. Go for it, no matter how long it will take you. Don't give up! Be no quitter! Money will come as sure as the sun goes up every morning.

There just are some things you need to learn. You need to learn how to do certain things. Like setting up autoresponders, create websites, find out what kind of marketing you like the most, and so on.

Some of the things you need to do are quite technical. That's just a fact. But it also can be a very fun and satisfying thing to do. Especially, when you see some great results coming up.

Of course you can have it done, all of it. It’s just a matter of your budget. I will go ahead and assume, that you don’t want to spend too much money. Doing it yourself is a great way how to become successful online. You learn how everything works and when success comes, you are an expert in your field.

It can be frustrating once in a while. But most of the time it is very worthwhile. I am learning so much. It is so rewarding, when I have tried and tried to find a solution for something, and then all of a sudden a 'light bulb' turns on and there is the answer. Sometimes the answer comes unexpected and sometimes it comes, because you really worked hard for it. I love those moments!

Right now I have finished getting all the 'article directories' and articles sorted and organized. I submitted my articles and got them accepted. What a feeling!

I have set up blogs to build a blog empire. Making money with or through blogs is what I am working on besides everything else.

There are some tried-and-true methods to how to promote a website, but I think that people rely on them too much. We all know some of the standard how to promote website techniques: you want to increase hits, increase visibility, and increased traffic in any way you can. You can do this by getting a lot of keyword optimized web content, signing up for ad space on various other websites, Setting up business referral arrangements and the like.

The problem is that everyone uses this approach. There are literally thousands upon thousands of people in whatever area you are involved in doing exactly the same thing. It is obvious why this is a problem. There are only so many people can who can rank high in any given Google search. It can be good to learn how to promote a website in this manner, but it can't be your only strategy. Unless you are very good at SEO optimized content, you need something more site-specific.

As a product promoter, I have a somewhat novel approach to how to promote a website. You see, I knew all about how to promote my product before I even got involved in the Internet. I have become comfortable with it over the last couple of years, but it is certainly not my background. For me, the key is promoting a website in the real world.

You see, national coverage and national attention are very difficult to dig get for an independent band, but local coverage is comparably easy. I have many strategies for how to promote a website in a geographic area. Basically, the key is to include the URL in all of your materials and have a great street team together. If you can have some web-based giveaways, so much the better. That will get people looking at your website, and once they are looking, you have gone halfway to winning the battle.

I know that these strategies for how to promote a website are not universal. Many people will tell me – and many people already have – that my advice doesn't help them in their line of business. What they don't realize is that that is the whole point. Everyone knows the universal part of how to promote websites. It can help to study up on it of course, and to increase and optimize your hits as much as possible, but that will only get you halfway there. The key is to go beyond your competition. Think about what strategies you can employ that other people are not using. Those are the ones that will pay off most of all.

How to Link Popularity Affects Search Engine Rankings

Search engines use a concept known as link popularity in determing the rankings for competing websites. The idea behind it is simple: If many other websites are linking to yours, then it must have some valuable content. With all else being equal, search engines will give a site with higher link popularity a better ranking than its competitor because the site with higher link popularity has demonstrated that it has content that others find useful.

There are three main factors involved in determining a site's link popularity: quantity, quality, and relevancy. Quantity is fairly straightforward -- the more links the better. More important is the quality of the links going to your site. One link coming from a very important site with high link popularity can be worth more than a dozen links from sites that have low link popularities. Finally, links coming from sites that have content related to yours will be worth more than those that don't. A link from a site that focuses on the same keyword phrases as your site will be weighted much more heavily than one from a completely unrelated site.

If you are targeting highly competitive keywords, then you should definitely put in the time to work on your link popularity. Below are some of the different avenues you can take to improve your site's link popularity. They are listed from the easiest to most time consuming.

Directories
Getting your site listed in directories is one of the fastest ways to build your link popularity. Probably the most important directory to be listed on is DMOZ. It is free and several large search engines including Google, use the DMOZ database for their own directories. By getting your site listed on DMOZ, you'll effectively be listed on Google's directory as well as dozens of other directories that use DMOZ content.

Find potential link partners
Another way you can improve your link popularity is to contact other websites you'd like to link to and offer to trade links. Make sure you personalize your email and include an explanation of the benefits of link popularity. Your request should be professional and give the impression that you put some thought into this.

Identify some positive points in the site you wish to link to and mention them in your email. Point out the benefits their visitors will receive by visiting your site and make sure everything is working on your site. Most webmasters won't want to link to your site if it has poor content or broken links.

Writing Articles for Republishing
One of the best ways you can improve the link popularity of your site is to write articles and allow them to be republished on other sites. There are many article submission directories which webmasters use to find content for their websites.

At the end of each article, you include a short profile about yourself and a link to your website. It's a good idea to explicitly state that your article may be republished only if the link to your website is active.

Final Tips
Avoid Link Farms
A link farm is a reciprocal linking service where everyone participating agrees to link to each other. Also known as free-for-all link pages, there's usually no foundation or relevancy in the linking and it's simply an attempt at improving link popularity.

Most search engines are aware of link farms and will either penalize or ban participants from being indexed completely. The minimal benefits you can get from having random unrelated links directed to your site are simply not worth the risk of getting banned by a major search engine. Writing quality content can do wonders for your search rankings, but if you allow other sites to use the content on the understanding that they link back to your site, it can benefit the both of you. It helps them rank better in the search engines while providing content they otherwise wouldn't have the time or knowledge to write. It helps you because you get more exposure to your work while improving your link popularity.

Most search engines take note of the text used for links. A link containing an important keyword phrase will be worth more than the same link with unrelated text. For example, instead of using your URL as the link text, use a keyword phrase.

If you are thinking of setting up a make money blog that reviews ways to make money online or lists methods of making money blogging, don't - especially if you are relatively new to making money online. Don't get me wrong. It is not impossible to make money with a blog - just very much harder to do so in the money niche. Why is that so? Firstly there is just too much


competition. Unless you are a prolific writer who can research stellar articles other bloggers in your niche cannot match up to, it will be nearly impossible to get a slice of the money pie. Secondly, readers of make money blogs are internet savvy people who are blind to ads and won't click on your affiliate link unless you are a top blogger with thousands of regular readers. Most importantly, getting to the front of search engine results page will be an uphill climb. When your article appears on the first page of SERPs, it means an explosion of traffic as more people are exposed to your article. As a result, your blog becomes more well known. There are over 50 million pages on making money online. What are your chances of overtaking these millions of pages, many of which are highly popular sites with tens of thousands of daily readers? But that's not to say you can't make money blogging. Just choose a less competitive niche. If you take a look at the top money making niches, you can see there are many other possibilities you can tap into. Why are Keywords Necessary

Are keywords necessary? You bet they are. Learn all you can about keywords because they are the backbone of everything you do on the internet. Everyone who uses the internet uses keywords whether they know it or not. What is a keyword? Let me start out with an example. Pretend that you are interested in 'clean seashells' and you

would like to have some information about it. Enter 'clean seashells' into a search engine on the internet. A page will come up with several sites associated with cleaning seashells. And, of course you guessed it, 'clean seashells' is a keyword or to be more precise a keyword phrase. To keep it short a keyword is a word or phrase that is entered into a search engine to find sites with information for that term. Most software used to run keyword searches gives the number of times the word or phrase was searched for within a specific length of time, usually the previous thirty days. This is what indicates the popularity of the keyword. Type in a keyword, click 'go' and Overture (recently purchased by Yahoo) will print out 100 related keywords. The number of searches performed will be to the left of each word. Before I began studying keywords it seemed that most people knew they had to have a lot of them but they were not sure why. Did anyone ever tell you why? Do you know why? One time an acquaintance of mine was so proud because he had 5000 keywords. He was so excited you would think the number of keywords guaranteed success. If only it were that simple. In actuality the number of keywords is only relevant to the use you have for them and the popularity. For instance, if you are going to build a 500 page website you may want 500 keywords, one keyword for each page. But that is another story. When someone types in one of your keywords you'll have a page of information for them. In truth, today we use considerably less keywords than were used in the past. If you plan to start an online business, keywords help you find your niche (subject of your business). Brainstorm a few subjects that interest you, jot down four or five and run a keyword search on each. Make sure the interest is there for any business you go into. There needs to be enough interest (number of searches) for you to be successful but not so much that the competition would be too fierce. Another facet is 'the higher the popularity of a keyword, the higher the cost of each 'pay per click'. If the competition is too stiff you will be competing against all the gurus. In that case you need to study more before you tackle it. I cannot tell you how many searches indicate a worthwhile interest. I have heard some say they would not use any keyword with less that a thousand hits (searches) in a month. Yet, if you use several keywords of lesser interest with say 60 hits a month, add them all up and you would have good interest. You will need to experiment a little. Keywords are the basis for almost everything you do in relationship to your 'online home business. Some other uses for keyword searches are: Finding a product finding a need to create your own product planning an advertising campaign Building a website there is no point doing a lot of work on a product etc. if there is no interest in it at all.
